I tune by ear with pitch forks by preference. When an instrument has drifted farther than a standard tuning can address, I also provide pitch raises.

Laura Jo has worked inside pianos since 2007.

I have played piano since I was seven. In 2007, I began an apprenticeship with the technician who tuned my childhood piano. I studied the books, followed her to tuning and repair appointments, and practiced on my own instrument.

After a year, I began tuning professionally and founded LJ's Piano Tuning & Repair in 2008. I know both methods, but I prefer to tune by ear with pitch forks rather than relying on a machine or app.
